The Crystal Light Bed - Myth, Magic, or New Technology?

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

I first heard of a Crystal Light bed a few years ago. It sounded like a magical cavern one would enter and I pictured lying under stalagmites of some sort. So when I heard Tranquility Salt Cave purchased a bed- I was really excited. It took a few weeks to arrive because the crystals had to be cut and the bed assembled overseas. When I first saw it, I was a bit surprised. For it doesn't look like something out of a cave- the machine has a very modern scientific look. There are sleek, black metal arches that hold seven crystals dangling two feet over the bed. Once the machine is turned on, the crystals radiate the colors of the chakras. In certain settings, they send rainbows dancing around the walls of the room.

Once I spoke my intention, I felt more relaxed. I settled back and focused on my breathing. As a Reiki M aster, I'm familiar with energies. I was curious to see if I would feel anything energetically and a little worried I wouldn't feel anything at all. But I trusted that the work that I needed would be done whether I was aware of it or not. Almost immediately, I felt a swirling sensation and a deep pressure in my throat. It was not uncomfortable but I could feel the energetics shifting on a much deeper level than I've felt with Reiki energy. As the session went on, I felt gentle twitching of my legs and feet- a sign that I was releasing energy blocks. I began trying to ask questions of my guides because I wasn't getting any information from them.

"Hey, are you guys there?" I asked jokingly in my mind. "I'm not hearing anything."

"You don't talk during surgery do you?" They replied immediately. "Just lie quietly while the work is being completed." I smiled at being shushed like a child but then lay quietly as instructed.

Towards the end of the session, I felt pressure on my forehead at the third eye. I could sense an opening and felt tingling along the top of my head. Then slowly the music began to fade and the room became quiet. I mentally brought my chakras back into manageable size and set a protection around my energy field. I asked for assistance in holding space for healing for the rest of the day.

I walked out feeling lighter but also a little sensitive. I was very thirsty and drank several large glasses of water in the afternoon. By evening, I felt a slight fatigue which I know can occur after deep energy work. I made sure to take a 20 minute salt bath and did a few gentle stretches before bed. I slept very soundly which is unusual for me. I only woke up once feeling like additional energy work was being completed but promptly fell back asleep and slept deeply until morning.

Although my energy felt normal the next day, my guides told me to take it easy for the next day or two. They said yoga or qigong was fine but not to go running or perform an intense workout with weights. They reminded me to care for myself to allow things to integrate. I asked my guides to come forward and speak about the crystal bed. This is the information I received:

"The Crystal Light bed is a healing tool that has been used for ages. It is not “new” although it may look new to many of you. The technology behind is beyond human comprehension right now. So for many, it will be stepping outside the realm of tangible knowledge and research and trusting their intuition. If they feel called to participate in this healing, they will need to trust that intuition. The (crystal) frequencies are accessing their energy field. This can help in a number of ways. Far deeper than even your physical medicine for we are working on an energetic level. This does not mean that Western Medicine does not have its place only that this tool can be used to access healing on the energetic level.

For many, it will do more in healing the places that are not visible to the naked eye. The heart for example. So many carry lower vibrations of grief, sadness, guilt in the heart chakra. Through the high vibrations, these frequencies can be adjusted and transmuted. It does not mean the person will walk away emotionless but it allows healing to begin on an inner level. Self care is important afterwards. Just as you would not run a marathon after surgery so it is with the crystal technology. Once must hydrate, take salt baths, eat light and rest. This allows the work that was completed on a conscious and unconscious level to integrate and assimilate effortlessly."

My impressions of the bed is that it really is something unique despite the lack of scientific research.

However, the NIH is now funding research demonstrating the efficacy of Reiki, Qigong, and Acupuncture so it looks like change is on the horizon.

I hope that more and more people come to understand the body is more than a mechanical engine- it's an energetic system. We use crystals in computers and surgical equipment in ways most of us cannot explain. Why would that not extend to healing?

Does the Crystal Bed work? In my opinion, yes I think it does. It's a valuable tool for those who feel nudged to use it. Will you be able to explain to your neighbor or co-worker exactly how it worked? Probably not. But then again, I can't explain what the crystal in my cell phone does either. I just know it works.
